Is it not praiseworthy and something to be thankful for, that God gave man charge over all creation? This in fact, is the first gift of God to man as recorded in Genesis 1:26-28;
“26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” KJV
The Message version of the same scripture appears more explicit:
26 God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth."
27 God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God's nature.
He created them male and female.
28 God blessed them:
"Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth."
Herein lies the principle of dominion mandate; “humans have a special authority and responsibility to rule over creation and its creations”
The second gift, and closely aligned to the first is the new creation reality – we become a new creation through faith in Jesus Christ. As 2 Cor. 5:17 declares, “17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” NKJV. The Message translation renders it thus: “17 Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it!”
Being a new creation means being a light in the world, having authority over God’s creations, and accessing spiritual blessings.
We thank God for the privilege of crossing over to 2025. His prophetic word for this year is DOMINION. And with the two anchor scriptures above, He has more than kept His promise and made provisions. Our duty is to contend and take possession.
