The contemporary world is going through a lot of challenges. The news media is replete with war, threats of war, hunger, killings, rising cost of living and so on. Yet in the midst of all these, there is good news from the word of God. In John chapter 16 and verse 3, Jesus, our ultimate good news and source of good news gives us assurance; "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
This means that we can overcome the challenging and troubling times through faith in God and a relationship with Jesus Christ. Indeed, Christ came that we may have life and have it more abundantly. His sacrificial death on the cross of Calvary and resurrection reconciled us to God and brought back the fellowship that man lost when Adam sinned. We can now access the promises of God to man - salvation, deliverance, health, wealth etc.
We are enjoined by Scripture to share this good news and this responsibility also has a promise; “How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7 NKJV
Our four-part series for the month of June, “Good News” is aimed at unpacking the truth of God’s word to find hope, succor and victory over these challenging times; and more importantly to enjoy eternal life in God. Join us this Sunday as we further explore the theme and conclude the series .
