WORD DIARY: SUNDAY MARCH 2, 2025

#Hope in God!..

Psalms 146:3-4 Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

#Trust in God!

Psalms 146:5 Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.

#Hope in God!

Psalms 146:6 He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— he remains faithful forever.

#Faithful God!

Psalms 146:7-8 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.

Let us pray: Father God, thank you for helping us in the name of Jesus

#Life questions and meditation:

1. Have you experienced the goodness of God?

2. How do you appreciate the goodness of God?

Postscript

Ecclesiastes 7:29 This only have I found: God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes.

God, more than earthly manufacturers, created a perfect mankind; and like every manufacturer, He gave the Bible as the manual. As we brush our teeth and eat every day, so much do we need to look into that manual for daily living and thereby prevent a malfunction inherent in seeking our many devices.

These verses and the accompanying nuggets are meant to start you out every day. But you need a personal relationship with God and the Lord Jesus Christ. It will help to contact a Bible believing church near you.

EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS! – PART 1– INTRODUCTION! (THANKSGIVING!..)

Without doubt, God is in the business of meeting and exceeding our expectations. The Apostle Paul alludes to this fact in his writing to the Ephesian church: Eph 3:20-21 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” KJV. The Message translation renders the verses more succinctly: Eph 3:20-21“God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Glory to God in the church! Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! Glory down all the generations! Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!” THE MESSAGE.

Expectation is defined as “a strong belief that something will happen or be the case”. It is “the feeling that good things are going to happen in the future”. Taken together and considering the fact that God fulfils and exceeds our righteous expectations, it seems a thing of joy that we are in the season of dominion and taking territories. As we expect to dominate and take territories God responds with answers. The Psalmist declares: Psalms 145:15-16 “The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.” NKJV

Expectations should be high on our agenda, if we are to live a victories Christian life. The reason is not far-fetched. There are great promises in the word of God, packaged and available as we maintain a covenant relationship with Him. Through expectation, we draw on these promises thereby showcasing the goodness of God. As Romans 8:19 states, “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.” NKJV

The Bible is replete with accounts where God exceeds the expectation of people. A case in point is that of the four lepers at the gate of Samaria – 2 Kings 7:3-20. The famine in the city was so severe they were prepared to die in venturing into the camp of the Syrian invaders. However, on entering the camp they discovered that not only had the army fled, there was enough food and clothes both for the lepers and eventually for the besieged city. Of course, God orchestrated the events as a confirmation of His words by the mouth of Prophet Elisha. In the New Testament – Acts 3:1-11, a man, lame from birth at the Beautiful Gate was expecting alms from John and Peter, the apostles of Christ, but ended up being healed of his condition! In contemporary life, testimonies of the power of God to exceed expectations abound.

The key questions are the state of our mind and our relationship with God. The theme of our five-part series for the month of March “Exceeding Expectations!”, examines these questions and the grace of God towards our expectations, beginning with a note of thanksgiving. Join us this and every Sunday, on-line or in person, as we explore the theme.
