WORD DIARY: MONDAY DECEMBER 1, 2025

#Be a defense!..

Acts 7:18-19 Then ‘a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt.’ He dealt treacherously with our people and oppressed our ancestors by forcing them to throw out their newborn babies so that they would die.

#Beware of oppressors!

Acts 7:20-22 “At that time Moses was born, and he was no ordinary child. For three months he was cared for by his family. When he was placed outside, Pharaoh’s daughter took him and brought him up as her own son. Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action

#Born for purpose!

Acts 7:23-24 “When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his own people, the Israelites. He saw one of them being mistreated by an Egyptian, so he went to his defense and avenged him by killing the Egyptian.

#Be a defense!

Acts 7:25 Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not.

Let us pray: Father God, may our purpose be understood in the name of Jesus

#Life questions and meditation:

1. Are you born for purpose?

2. Are you a defense?

#Divine settlement!..

Acts 7:11-12 “Then a famine struck all Egypt and Canaan, bringing great suffering, and our ancestors could not find food. When Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our forefathers on their first visit

#Divine provision!

Acts 7:13-14 On their second visit, Joseph told his brothers who he was, and Pharaoh learned about Joseph’s family. After this, Joseph sent for his father Jacob and his whole family, seventy-five in all.

#Divine settlement!

Acts 7:5-16 Then Jacob went down to Egypt, where he and our ancestors died. Their bodies were brought back to Shechem and placed in the tomb that Abraham had bought from the sons of Hamor at Shechem for a certain sum of money

#Divine direction!

Acts 7:17 “As the time drew near for God to fulfill his promise to Abraham, the number of our people in Egypt had greatly increased

Let us pray: Father God, we thank you for increasing us in the name of Jesus

#Life questions and meditation:

Postscript

Ecclesiastes 7:29 This only have I found: God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes.

God, more than earthly manufacturers, created a perfect mankind; and like every manufacturer, He gave the Bible as the manual. As we brush our teeth and eat every day, so much do we need to look into that manual for daily living and thereby prevent a malfunction inherent in seeking our many devices.

THE POWER OF FOCUS!.. – PART 5 – CONCLUSION (FOLLOW THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS!..)

In our world today, it is very easy to be distracted and lose focus from the things that really matter. As the saying goes, we major on the minor and minor on the major. What with the noise of the social media, the political, economic, and existential realities all competing for our attention. This is heightened more so as we move towards the end of the year.

Yet the Bible makes us to understand, and with examples, that what we set our eyes on shapes the direction of our lives. Proverbs 4:25–27 says “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.” NLT. The Message Translation puts it in a more relatable manner: “Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.”

It is said that your life always moves in the direction of your strongest focus. God works through people who learned to focus: Noah focused on God’s voice even when the world had never seen rain (Genesis 6). Nehemiah stayed on the wall when his enemies tried to distract him (Nehemiah 6:3). Paul declares, “This one thing I do… I press toward the mark” (Philippians 3:13–14). Focus is not merely concentration—it is alignment. It is choosing what matters most and refusing to be pulled away by what matters less. Hebrews 12:1–2 calls us to “lay aside every weight… and fix our eyes on Jesus.”

Our five-part series for the month of November, “The Power of Focus”, will help us recognize and deal with distractions, whilst focusing on and achieving our true calling. This is perhaps, the best time to realign our life with the purpose of God, gain spiritual clarity and straighten our faith. Join us this  Sunday; on line and on site, as we explore the theme and conclude the series.

God bless you.
