Postscript

Ecclesiastes 7:29 This only have I found: God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes.

God, more than earthly manufacturers, created a perfect mankind; and like every manufacturer, He gave the Bible as the manual. As we brush our teeth and eat every day, so much do we need to look into that manual for daily living and thereby prevent a malfunction inherent in seeking our many devices.

These verses and the accompanying nuggets are meant to start you out every day. But you need a personal relationship with God and the Lord Jesus Christ. It will help to contact a Bible believing church near you.

HARVESTERS! – PART 1 – INTRODUCTION!

This season, the Lord is reminding us of the great commission and the urgent need to bring in the harvest of souls. As prophesied in Habakkuk 2:14 KJV – “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea”. The message of the gospel is to all. Therefore, regardless of the seeming advancement of the gospel in nations of the earth, there is a need for more souls to be won and more territories to be claimed for Jesus. In this regard, the role and need of harvesters cannot be over emphasized. There is thus a clarion call for harvesters to arise!

Harvest means the gathering of crops, symbolizing the gathering of souls. Jesus referred to the abundance of people who are ready to receive the Gospel message and become disciples. The harvest represents the ripe opportunity for evangelism and discipleship. Here is how Jesus puts it in Luke. 10:2 KJV – “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest)” This was a fitting pep talk and encouragement while commissioning the 72 disciples (Luke 10:1-24). Jesus is sending them out to win souls, and He's giving them instructions and encouragement. From this scripture we learn the following:

1. God's sovereignty over the harvest (salvation and discipleship).

2. The need for human cooperation (prayer and labour) in God's plan.

3. The verse highlights the importance of prayer in missions and evangelism.

4. It also stresses the urgency of the task, as the harvest is ripe, but the workers are few.

The call is not only to the 72 disciples, but now extends to us as believers. As every farmer knows, if the crop is not harvested, the labour of sewing, weeding and watering are wasted; and the crop will rot away. In a similar vein, we are not oblivious of the burden of the Lord to bring men to the knowledge of Christ, and this we will do by the equipping of His Spirit. Nations (believers and unbelievers) are yearning for the outpouring of God's power, men are seeking freedom from the hold and gris of darkness, and the government of nations seems not to know what to do. More than ever before, the world needs help; and Jesus is the answer.

For this quest, we are taking up the call to be the SENT, the HARVESTERS, those who will bring men out of darkness into the light through the efficacy of the word of God. Our five-part series for the month of September, “Harvesters”, brings attention to bear on the great commission and challenges us to rise up to the onerous task of bringing in and discipling souls into the kingdom of God. Join us this and every Sunday, onsite and online, as we explore the theme. God bless you.
