SERVICE EXCELLENCE! – PART 2 – CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT!..

In the business and corporate world, service excellence is a very big concept. It refers to “consistently exceeding customer expectations and delivering a high-quality, memorable experience.” Service excellence goes beyond providing good service and aims to create a lasting positive impression that fosters customer loyalty. The ultimate goal of service excellence is not a one-time achievement but an ongoing journey of improvement, requiring constant feedback and adaptation to changing customer needs.

While service excellence may be a buzz word in business, corporate and even government organizations (SERVICOM), it has its foundation in the Bible. We serve the God of excellence, who expects us to give of our best in serving Him and humanity at large, thereby giving worship to Him and expanding His kingdom on earth. The Apostle Paul understood this and though he started out least among the other apostles, labored or served  more -1 Cor 15:10 “But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me.” AMP. Whilst admitting the available grace of God, Paul did not waste it but utilized it to maximum advantage. Can that be said of us today?

The larger question is, how are we going to be evaluated in our service to God? How are we going to fulfill our function in serving him? As organizations set up quality assurance systems to ensure their products meet up to expectation, God is constantly looking at our service. We want to serve in such a manner as to hear those famous words, "Well done, good and faithful servant" that He has promised to those who serve him in an excellent way, on the day of judgment. While we are on this side of eternity, let us serve in whatever capacity God has given us the grace. Ecc 9:10 delivers a somber warning; “Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom” Again the emphasis here is the importance of engaging fully and passionately in whatever work or task we  find ourselves in, recognizing that there is no work, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in the afterlife.

Our four-part series for the month of May, “Service Excellence”, is a build-up from our April series and seeks to compel us to critically examine our service to God and humanity, with a view to continue the good work and make improvements where necessary. Join us this and every Sunday, as we explore the theme.

God bless you.
