To lift up and fly, a plane has to overcome the force of gravity by employing the forces of aerodynamics (lift, drag and thrust). Thus, whilst gravity is “a downward vertical force that keeps an object on the earth, or pulls it towards the surface of the earth”, the forces of aerodynamics allow objects move through the air. Gravity in this case is a limitation, but aerodynamics takes care of it, allowing the plane to fly.
Limitations may come in the form of set boundaries; they can be restrictions which may not be passed or disabilities. It is also possible that limitations can manifest as adversaries, mindsets, obstacles and afflictions. The net effect of limitations is to deny a person the achievement of their God- ordained best in any area of their lives – spiritually, materially and physically. But just as the plane uses the forces of aerodynamics to overcome the force of gravity, we have God, who by Himself and through His word has made a way of escape. We are best advised to apply the word of God and leverage on a relationship with Him so that we can overcome every presentation of limitations, live a glorious Christian life and fulfil destiny. King David, in Psm. 18:29, acknowledges the help of God in overcoming limitations, to gain victory over his enemies: “For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall” (NKJV). Similarly, God helped him to be established as the king of Israel with a group of discontented, depressed, distressed and indebted men who joined him at the cave of Adulam (1 Sam. 22:1-2), later becoming mighty men of valor (2 Sam. 23:8-12). According to Happy Caldwell, these men “overcame the limits of their circumstances and became triumphant and honored men in the service of King David.”You may not be King David,
attempting to run away from a murderous and jealous King Saul. It may be that
doors of opportunities have been opened unto you, but there are many
adversaries (1 Corinthians 16:9). God who opened the doors will ensure you walk
into them. Though Paul was writing in the context of those opposing the gospel,
his advice in 2 Cor. 10: 4, is also useful if your mindset is playing games
with you and limiting your capacity: “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly
weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false
arguments” NLT. If the limitations are coming like a flood, God will raise a
standard against them (Isa 59:9b). The ultimate limitation is sin, which
hinders our relationship with God. But again, God has dealt with this through
the sacrificial death of Christ on the Cross. What we are left to do is to
appropriate by faith the benefits of this sacrifice through a relationship with
Jesus Christ. Are you willing? And if you are already in the relationship, how
deep is it?
Our four-part series for the

God provides for us to ensure we are victorious in life and destiny. Join us
this and every Sunday as we explore the theme.
