WEST AFRICA THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY: 33RD CONVOCATION!

How do you describe three years (four if you add the COVID-19 YEAR) of inspiring and challenging theological and leadership studies? Well, just that, to say the least.

West Africa Theological Seminary, is arguably Africa’s foremost academy of theology and leadership training. Founded thirty-four years ago, by Rev. Prof. Gary S. Maxey, an American missionary, and now a naturalized Nigerian, WATS has produced scholars who are championing the institution’s mission:

“To train men and women for holy living, for carrying the Gospel to the unreached, and for catalyzing national spiritual awakening”

The school’s vision, “to be the theological seminary of choice in Africa for preparing leaders empowered by the Holy Spirit for advancing God’s kingdom to all people groups”, remain ever relevant, even at such a time as this.

I count it a great privilege from God to have completed the studies for Master of Divinity (MDIV), and over the last weekend became an alumni of this revered citadel of learning. I am grateful to my family, the sitting and adjunct faculty of the school and my classmates. The knowledge gained and network built, will no doubt impact my ministry in the years ahead. All glory to God!
