DIVINE ABUNDANCE!... PART 4 – CONCLUSION! (ANOINTING SERVICE)

The Bible records a time in the life of Isaac, when there was famine in the land. Naturally, he was tempted to relocate to another place or at best try other options he felt would provide succor to him and his household. As if sensing that, God told him not to depart from the place. The Bible goes on to state that Isaac stayed and sewed in that land and in the  same year he reaped a hundredfold (Gen. 26:1-5, 12-14). It is important to note that this abundant harvest in the midst of famine was God’s agenda, and thankfully, Isaac could hear and obey the voice of God.

In our contemporary society, riddled with economic, political and security challenges, the temptation appears strong, as was with Isaac, to resort to self-help and attempt to procure solutions as we deem fit. But God has through His word, made provisions for us to live an abundant life - physically, materially and spiritually. Key requirements to accessing this abundance include a relationship with God and faith in Him. A sample of some Scriptures will buttress this truth: Matt. 6:31-33 “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” NIV, 3 John:2 “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” NKJV; and we are called to a deeper walk of faith in 2 Kings 3:17 “You will see neither wind nor rain, says the Lord, but this valley will be filled with water. You will have plenty for yourselves and your cattle and other animals” NLT

Divine abundance draws us to the reality of God’s limitless supply to our needs. It’s our responsibility to tap into this resource. The four lepers at the gate of Samaria, took the step of faith and entered into the camp of the Syrians. In so doing, they had so much supply for themselves and ended the famine in the nation, thus fulfilling the prophesy of Elisha that food will be in abundance within twenty-four hours (2 Kings 7:3-18). And  when the widow ran to Elisha for help over her late husband’s creditors, the little oil she had was miraculously multiplied to pay the debts and provide sustenance for her family (2 Kings 4:1-7). Christ himself turned two fishes and five loaves into a meal that fed five thousand men (not counting women and children) and left twelve excess baskets (Matt. 14:15-21, John 6:1-13). Other numerous examples abound but suffice it to say that with God, we have an abundance of supplies of all we need.

No matter from which perspective we look at it, God is calling us into a season of abundance in Him. We must accept this invitation and not focus on the lack,  deprivation and other challenges that may confront us. Our four-part series for the month of June, “Divine Abundance”, examines how we can tap into God’s limitless supplies and thereby live a victorious Christian life. Join us this Sunday as we explore the theme and conclude the series.

God bless you.
