WORD DIARY: THURSDAY OCTOBER 1, 2020
Key Scriptures:
2 Cor 5:13 If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake
of God; if we are in our right mind, it
is for you.
2 Cor 5:14-15 For Christ's love compels us, because we
are convinced that one died for all,
and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those
who live should no longer live for
themselves but for him who died for them and was raised
again.
You will notice that during
electioneering campaigns and political rallies, supporters of a political party
or the candidate, go all out to demonstrate their support for the party and
candidate. They do all they can to convince others to support and vote their
party and candidate.
In football and other competitive
sports, fans paint their faces with the name and colors of their club; they are
very loud about their support for their club, and believe that it is the best
and can beat any other club. This scenario also plays out in big television
celebrity shows or such similar events; were the audience roots out for
particular individuals.
Now, God is our creator and he
created us to showcase his glory. The question is; how often do we advertise and
showcase the glory of God? In what ways do we make him known to others, and
thereby demonstrate our devotion and love for him? Are we intentional about it
as the political, sports and celebrity supporters are? At what times and
places? Is it only on Sunday, in church; or when we lift up chairs during
praise and worship chanting “Radical for Jesus”?
I heard the story of a boss who
exclaimed that he would never have thought that a particular employee was a Christian,
until someone else mentioned the fact. Yet the Bible commands in:
Mat. 5:16 Let your light so shine
before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is
in heaven.
How can we bring glory to God? How
can we as it were get radical for God? It’s not only in the big things. Christ
died for us, and we should be able to die to self and live for Christ and
others.
That act of kindness to a colleague
in the office, marketplace or even a total stranger, counts.
That phone call to enquire about
someone’s welfare – They all count and point to the love of God who commands us
to love one another.
Be thankful and count your
blessings. Look beyond your needs and see the needs of others.
As you meet the needs of others and
showcase the glory of God; God who sees in secret will reward you openly with
answers to your own needs.
To conclude, in your daily
activities, look for ways to get radical for God and make him known!
God bless you and have a great day.
