God created us to be productive, increase and multiply (Gen. 1:28). These attributes imply that life is progressive, going from one level to the other. Once a child is born and begins to eat food, expectedly the child will crawl, stand, walk and grow until maturity into adulthood; each stage signifies a new height. Indeed, life would be boring and colorless, if we all remained at the same level in our endeavors, be it in business, academics, profession or our walk with God. During their journey to the Promised Land, the children of Israel spent a lot of time at a particular location, that God had to practically chase them to make progress! – Deut 2:1-3 “Then we turned around and went back into the wilderness following the route to the Red Sea, as God had instructed me. We worked our way in and around the hills of Seir for a long, long time. Then God said, "You've been going around in circles in these hills long enough; go north” THE MESSAGE
The dominion mandate that God gave us in Gen. 1:28, calls for constantly scaling new heights and taking territories. It calls for new experiences and with that, new responsibilities. Whilst the Israelites were fed miraculously for forty years in the wilderness, when they entered Canann, the manna ceased and they had to eat the crop of the land. And it doesn’t take a stretch of imagination to know that they would also begin to cultivate the land (Joshua 5: 11-12). The Prophet Isaiah and the Apostle John, were called into new revelatory experiences in the throne room of God: Isa 6:1-2 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying” NIV; Rev 4:1-2 “After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, "Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this." Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne” NKJV
Saul, the first king of Israel set out to look for his father’s missing donkeys. However, before the end of that journey, he had been anointed king, operated in the office of the prophet and become “another man” (1 Sam 10:1-6). And he had the assurances of Prophet Samuel - 1 Sam 10:7 "When these confirming signs are accomplished, you'll know that you're ready: Whatever job you're given to do, do it. God is with you!” THE MESSAGE. This season, God has made provisions for us to achieve new heights. What is of prime importance, is how we respond to the opportunities that lie before us. Our five-part series for the month of March, “New Heights”, dwells on the emerging higher dimensions in our life and walk with God. Join us this Easter Sunday, as we explore and conclude the theme.
God bless you.
